JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Regional Technical Engineer, under the supervision of the Regional Business Manager and or Director of Sales – is responsible for developing and executing a sales growth strategy for both products and services in their area of responsibility. This person is also responsible for working with local distributors to improve M.A. Ford technical service to end user customers.  This position is salary, with no commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Works with distributors and end users to increase M.A. Ford sales revenue and profitability in their area of responsibility.
  1. Displays a knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  1. Identify and develop potential customers for service products such as Testing and Reconditioning Services.
  1. Provides technical support and problem-solving for customers via phone or email, and in-person at manufacturers in area of responsibility. Frequent overnight travel may be required within area of responsibility.
  1. Collects data on tools running, test reports, or customer feedback for R&D.
  1. Creates end-user cost justification reports to document end-user cost savings.
  1. Assists customers in area of responsibility to replace competitor tooling with M.A. Ford tooling.
  2. Works with Research and Development to develop potential beta sites for R&D and collect data.
  1. Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time. Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the Company to customers and others.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Organize and maintain a remote (home) office location for M A Ford business purposes. This would include the utilization of current communication technology to support regional business needs.
  1. Maintain a vehicle in good working order, at all times, for business purposes.
  1. Establish, retain, and maintain a customer contact list which shall be shared with the corporate “data warehouse”. This contact list should be detailed information on an account-by-account basis.
  1. Organize and/or participate in regular internal sales meeting activities including teleconferences.
  1. Travel outside regional area of responsibility to support colleagues and/or to offer unique skills that will benefit a situation or specific business need.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

        A. Associates Degree or greater; or commensurate experience required. Five years’ experience in using, and/or selling rotary cutting tools a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret many forms of business documents, including customer prints.
  2.  Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees through the use of printed materials.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform math calculations such as geometry and trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

         A. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
        B. Ability to problem solve customer tooling issues to isolate potential problem areas.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. This position requires the employee to operate a motor vehicle and a current valid Driver’s License along with auto insurance coverage.
  1. Ability to frequently use a computer and telephone. Must be capable in MS Word, Excel. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Mastercam, or Solidworks is a plus.
